The Making of a Model | Some are Born with It
Models come, and models go, but some models just have that “it” factor. Sure, they have to be beautiful on the outside, but being beautiful on the inside is what makes for stunning photographs.
Although I am by no means a professional photographer, through trial and error, I do appreciate the art of photography. When I discovered Anika, I hit jackpot, who does some fabulous modeling for me on eBay and Etsy.
As I continued to photograph Anika, it became obvious to me that she possessed certain traits that make her stand out in the modeling world. Here are some of my observations as to what separates an average model from a fabulous model.
1. She must be comfortable in their own skin and uninhibited.
2. A good model knows that the shoot is not about her, but about the desired outcome of the photograph and the subject matter. She is able to emotionally connect with the theme and understands your art.
3. She must be creative and think ahead of the shutter. She moves freely through the photo shoot from every angle, anticipating the next shot.
4. She thinks “through” the photo shoot and comes equipped with a variety of expressions, poses, and moods.
5. She knows that modeling is about the final product and doesn’t second guess herself. That’s what editing is for.
6. She is on time for the shoot, has a positive attitude, and puts the photographer at ease.
The photos below were not taken by myself, but by various professional photographers. Anika has been kind enough to give me permission to share them with you here. Which is your favorite photo?
OOTD | These Boots Were Made For Walkin’, Baby!
My favorite little fashionista, Lindsey, is at it again! She always manages to put together the cutest outfits. This time, she really got my attention with her vintage go-go-boots begotten at V. V. Couture for only $5.00. Say what??!!! Now, that’s what I’m talking about! Lindsey obviously knows how satisfying shopping for vintage can be, especially when you find that one item that makes the whole outfit. I love the way the boots go with her mahogany hair too! Check out Lindsey’s blog at Over My Styled Body when you get a chance. You’ll love it!

Spring Has Sprung!
Etsy Spotting | Blackberry Designs Jewelry
It’s been a while since I’ve spotted something on Etsy that really captured my attention, but, when I happened across Dea Shelton’s Blackberry Designs Jewelry shop, I was instantly captivated. In fact, I think the exact words that came out of my mouth were, “Oh my gosh! Beautiful!”
After viewing just a few of her handmade jewelry creations, I knew I had to convo Dea to tell her how amazing her jewelry is. During our very short chat, Dea proved to be forthcoming and engaging. Says Dea, “When I originally created this line of jewelry, I researched charm bracelets from the 1940′s-1950′s, and located chain, findings and vintage images that would mimic the feel of that time period.”
Indeed. From the sparkling crystals, whimsical charms, vintage images, and inspirational quotes, each piece brings with it something magical, and well, charming!
Below are just a few of my favorites. They’re all so beautiful, I want them all!

Dachshund Riesling Wine | It’s Been a Very Good Day
It got it! I got it! The local grocery store called today to say my case of special order Dachshund Riesling had finally arrived. Imported by Halby Marketing, Inc. in Sonoma, California, it’s the new kid on the block, coming onto the market just this spring.
I first heard about Dachshund Riesling while wandering aimlessly around Facebook, when there it was! Being a lover of dachshunds and a lover of wine, it was a no-brainer to order this wine by the case.
So what’s the verdict? Not overstated, decidedly crisp and aromatic. It perfectly complimented my barbecued chicken, baked baby red potatoes, and cucumber salad. I even snuck in an extra glass to have with my cheesecake for desert. Now we’re talking!
Dachshund Riesling may not be available in your state yet, but the folks at DR are more than happy to tell you who the distributor is in your state. Just contact your local grocery store to see if they can order it for you! I’ll drink to that!
